Two Indonesian stunt planes crash in Malaysia – New York Daily News

Four Indonesian stunt pilots survived a horrifying mid-air collision when their two planes crashed during a practice session in Malaysia Sunday.

The four pilots were able to eject safely from their 1B Wong Bee aircrafts and deployed their parachutes. They landed safely without being injured, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition stated on its Facebook page.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force located the pilots about six miles from the scene within minutes. They were taken to a hospital and are safe. They remain under evaluation.

The team of six planes from the Jupiter Aerobatic Team of the Indonesian Air Force were practicing ahead of the air show, which will run this week.

The wings of the aircrafts clipped causing the explosion. The planes were destroyed, the organization stated.

There were no injuries reported on the ground though the wreckage did cause a home and vehicle to catch fire, the group said. The homeowner was not at the residence at the time of the incident.

The Malaysian and Indonesian air forces will investigate the incident.

The air show, which started in 1991 and draws about 38,000 people, is scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday and will have five different air teams perform during the show.
