To celebrate 20 years in business Amazon decided to hold its very own Black Friday-style sale.
The much-hyped Amazon Prime Day caused a buzz with shoppers across the globe, who expected to be able to get their hands on cheap flatscreen TVs and the like.
But according to some shoppers, the reality was something of an anti-climax, with some saying they'd been offered items they described as 'garage sale' rubbish.

Items such as a 55-gallon barrel of lube or a videotape rewinder did not exactly inspire customers to buy, nor did granny pants, giant packs of loo roll or processed ham.

In a blow Amazon surely didn't see coming, #PrimeDayFail trended on Twitter, with people sharing the best/worst items they'd seen for sale and generally getting sassy.
They accused Amazon of trying to get rid of items they had lying around in their warehouse, like this absolutely essential cat lodge:
And pointed out that the stuff on sale was stuff no one actually wanted. Shame.
Though we do all need detergent…
Other items on offer were just baffling.
And there were online waiting lists for the really cool bargains.
Some were left nostalgic for the horrors of Black Friday.
While others made the best of a bad situation.
But every cloud has a silver lining, so, y'know, thanks Amazon.
