U.S. stock indexes opened modestly higher Tuesday as investors read the government's second update of gross-domestic product data as in line with Wall Street expectations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average , gained 68 points, or 0.4%, at 17,315, while the S&P 500 index gained 7 points, or 0.4%%, to trade at 2,028. The Nasdaq Composite opened 15 points, or 0.3%%, higher to trade at 4,983. The advances for stocks come as crude-oil prices are rebounding after several sessions of declines.
